There’s No Better Time To Buy Nintendo Hardware Than Right Now

Despite a somewhat rocky reception caused by a lack of launch titles and high price compared to its predecessor, not even a year after release, the Nintendo Switch 2 has managed to become one of the fastest-selling console in video game history. While the console has already been incredibly profitable for Nintendo so far, it seems like the Switch 2’s success is becoming a double-edged sword for Nintendo fans.

Even if many Switch 1 players still aren’t convinced that they need to upgrade to a shiny new piece of hardware just yet, if you’re one of the people who have been holding out for a better deal, or simply want to wait for a better price, this current window will likely be your best possible chance to grab a Switch 2 for a long time.

While it was originally announced in early May, Nintendo has officially released the brand new “choose your own game” bundle for the Switch 2, which provides more freedom than their previous offerings by letting you choose between one of three titles rather than the Mario Kart World exclusive bundle, which Nintendo is currently phasing out in favor of this latest release.

With the Switch 2 edition including a code that can be used to claim a virtual key for either Mario Kart World, Pokémon Pokopia, or Donkey Kong Bananza for $499.99 USD, it’s definitely an upgrade in terms of player freedom, even if the price is the same as previous editions.

While it’s not a major discount by any means, the $40 off compared to the normal is $449.99 and the games are $79.99 before taxes is still a nice way to offset the hefty price of the system somewhat, especially considering how limited we were with only having access to Mario Kart World until now, even if It’s still somewhat of a shame it can’t be used on any Switch 2 title available.

Nintendo is also releasing a Pokemon Pokopia bundle for the Swtich 2, but currenly only has limited availability in Australia and New Zealand.

If you want to get an even larger discount and are willing to put in a bit of extra effort, one increasingly common method players are taking advantage of to save up to $80 is by purchasing Nintendo gift cards in bulk at stores like Costco, and purchasing the bundle straight from Nintendo themselves using the discounted codes.

Unfortunately, if you are still not convinced about the bundle being worth your money and want to wait for a larger discount, you might be in for a far longer wait than is worth holding out for, as Nintendo is planning to raise the price of the Switch 2 by $50 USD at the start of September.

Having announced the bundle not long after the announcement of the price increase to be available, it’s an excellent excuse to jump into the Switch 2 ecosystem before the investment gets even harder while supplies last, as the system will likely continue to hold its value as part prices continue to rise.

Combined with the fact that portable gaming consoles like the Steam Deck have seen massive price surges of up to $300 in the past few weeks, the Switch 2’s increase feels incredibly tame in comparison, but can still be avoided if you have the money to invest in one now rather than later down the line.

Even if the Switch 2’s library is still somewhat small for the year-long wait, there’s still more than a few offerings from each genre to enjoy, alongside Nintendo’s supposed Switch 2 software improvements that aim to offset the cost for buyers.
