July of 2026 is looking like a great month for television. Of course, in this day and age, new programs are hitting streaming and cable constantly. We have more options than ever before, and they show no signs of stopping. Of course, this can sometimes make it rather difficult to actually pick something new. It’s easy to get lost in the sea of content, but as summer slips into the month of July, there are a few TV shows in particular to watch out for.
This month is bringing with it a wave of shows for Prime Video, HBO, Apple TV, ABC, and more, each falling into a different genre or format. We’ve got the premieres of what are expected to be long-running shows, as well as a handful of intriguing miniseries. There are documentary TV shows and reality competitions, not to mention remakes of old classics and prequels to Hollywood blockbusters. Suffice it to say, if you’re looking to narrow down your summer binges to a few great options, July has you covered.
Elle (July 1)
First up in July is the highly anticipated Elle, releasing on July 1, 2026, on Prime Video. This series serves as a prequel to Reese Witherspoon’s Legally Blonde, which followed the very pink Elle Woods through her stereotype-defying success at law school. Amazon’s Elle is set 6 years prior to the 2001 film and will introduce the high school version of Witherspoon’s memorable character.
Elle is created by Laura Kittrell and will star actor Lexi Minetree as the young Elle Woods. Witherspoon serves as an executive producer on the series, which was renewed for a second season back in January 2026, long before season 1’s July premiere. This show of confidence on Prime Video’s part is highly encouraging, so we can certainly expect a great deal from Elle.
Little House on the Prairie (July 9)
There’s certainly nothing new about Laura Ingalls Wilder’s beloved Little House on the Prairie books, but Netflix is geared up to give this story a new look. Developed by Rebecca Sonnenshine, the multi-season series will kick off on July 9, 2026, diving into the familiar story of the Ingalls family and their frontier life. This new Little House on the Prairie will reportedly expand beyond the traditional central characters to explore the broader American western expansion.
Little House on the Prairie will feature Alice Halsey as Laura Ingalls while Elvis actor Luke Bracey plays her father, Charles Ingalls. Once again, this series has already been renewed for a second season ahead of its premiere, so there should be a bright future ahead for this version of the Ingalls family.
The Five-Star Weekend (July 9)
At the same time that Little House on the Prairie arrives on Netflix, Peacock will introduce its adaptation of Elin Hilderbrand’s 2023 bestselling novel, The Five-Star Weekend. The story follows a recently widowed food blogger who organizes a luxurious weekend in Nantucket for herself and four friends, each of whom was there for her during different chapters of her life.
The Five-Star Weekend stars Jennifer Garner as food blogger Hollis Shaw, and her four friends are played by Chloë Sevigny, Regina Hall, Gemma Chan, and D’Arcy Carden. Additional cast members include Timothy Olyphant and Harlow Jane. The Five-Star Weekend is formatted as a miniseries and was developed for television by Bekah Brunstetter.
Dancing with the Stars: The Next Pro (July 13)
Long-running reality competition series Dancing with the Stars needs a new pro, so it only makes sense that a spinoff contest would help the show pick who it will be. The ABC series will premiere on July 13, 2026, and will revolve around 12 professional dancers as they live, train, and audition together to see who will work with a celebrity in the next seasons of Dancing with the Stars.
The Next Pro will be hosted by environmental activist Robert Irwin, the Mirror Ball champion of Dancing with the Stars‘ most recent season 34. The potential pros of this spinoff contest will be judged by dancer Mark Ballas and his mother, Shirley Ballas, while names like Derek Hough, Witney Carson, and Jenna Johnson are slated to guest judge.
The Real Wolf of Wall Street (July 14)
July 14, 2026, will bring with it Paramount+’s three-episode docuseries, The Real Wolf of Wall Street. The project promises a closer look at criminal stockbroker Jordan Belfort, who was famously played by Leonardo DiCaprio in Martin Scorsese’s The Wolf of Wall Street (2023). While films based on true stories often grossly exaggerate events, Paramount’s The Real Wolf will reportedly reveal that it undersold the debauchery.
The trailer for The Real Wolf of Wall Street features an interviewee stating that Scorsese’s movie didn’t even “accurately portray the level of insanity that occurred.” That’s truly saying something, since DiCaprio’s movie is known for its over-the-top moral chaos. Clearly, this new docuseries will take the truth to a whole new level.
Lucky (July 15)
Apple TV has built a reputation for itself with truly excellent TV shows, and it looks like July will keep that ball rolling. Halfway through the month will bring the premiere of the miniseries Lucky, based on the 2021 novel by Marissa Stapley. The story revolves around a con artist whose heist goes wrong, placing her within the sights of not just the FBI but a ruthless crime boss as well.
Apple TV’s Lucky is executive-produced by Reese Witherspoon.
Lucky is created by Jonathan Tropper and stars Anya Taylor-Joy as the titular character. Other cast members include Annette Bening, Timothy Olyphant, and Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor. The crime thriller will be made up of seven episodes, aired weekly between July 15 and August 19.
The Hawk (July 16)
Another highly anticipated Netflix series of 2026 is the Will Ferrell golf comedy, The Hawk. Arriving on July 16, this series will follow Lonnie “The Hawk” Hawkins (Ferrell), a former champion golfer looking to make an unlikely comeback. The Hawk is a collaboration between Ferrell and longtime comedy partners Harper Steele and Chris Henchy and will feature additional stars such as Molly Shannon, Fortune Feimster, Chris Parnell, Luke Wilson, Jimmy Tatro, and more.
We can expect the 10-episode first season of The Hawk to have all the benchmarks of a Ferrell comedy series. While Netflix hasn’t yet made a determination about a sophomore season, the expectation is that The Hawk will continue as an extended series. It will all depend on viewership, but with such a stacked cast, this series should have few issues.
Stuart Fails To Save The Universe (July 23)
The final week of July will deliver The Big Bang Theory‘s third official spinoff series, following up on Young Sheldon and Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage. Stuart Fails to Save the Universe, created by Chuck Lorre, Zak Penn, and Bill Prady, will be of a very different flavor than its franchise predecessors, following comic book store owner Stuart Bloom (Kevin Sussman) after he accidentally triggers a multiverse Armageddon.
Sussman will be joined by other The Big Bang Theory supporting stars, including Brian Posehn’s Bert Kibbler, Lauren Lapkus’ Denise, and John Ross Boqie’s Barry Kripke. They are certainly an unlikely group of heroes, and, based on Stuart Fails to Save the Universe’s title, they aren’t particularly effective either. Regardless, this new HBO series is sure to be a fun ride.
