Beye sacked by Marseille after four-month stint

Habib Beye has been sacked by Marseille after just over four months in charge.

Beye took charge in February, replacing Roberto De Zerbi, and oversaw just 13 games in all competitions.

The 48-year-old, who played for Marseille between 2003 and 2007, won six of those matches (D2 L5), though his side conceded 18 goals while scoring just seven times.

When he took over, Marseille were fourth in Ligue 1, 12 points behind Paris Saint-Germain.

They eventually finished 17 points behind the champions, in fifth, securing a place in the Europa League.

“Olympique de Marseille announces the end of its collaboration with Habib Beye,” the club said in a statement.

“The club thanks Habib Beye and wishes him all the best for the future of his career.”

Bruno Genesio is set to replace him, according to French media, having come to the end of his Lille contract.
