A gorgeous new open-world adventure has just been dropped for free on Xbox Game Pass, and players looking to throw themselves into a cozy exploration game will want to check it out. Plenty of new games are hitting the catalog this month, including some massive day-one releases. The additions in May include Forza Horizon 6 and Subnautica 2, as well as the critically acclaimed Mixtape. There are, however, some titles leaving Xbox Game Pass on May 15, too.
Nevertheless, it’s good to keep an eye out for the new arrivals, and among the notable day-one releases, there is one that may have flown under your radar. On May 11, a new day-one title was added to Xbox Game Pass, as was previously announced by Microsoft and now reported by Pure Xbox. The game can now be downloaded and played for free for qualifying members, no strings attached.
As part of the May additions to Xbox Game Pass, you can play Outbound as a day-one release via the service. Because of its status as a day-one release, Outbound is only available for members of the Ultimate and PC Game Pass tiers. The indie title developed by Square Glade Games can be enjoyed on both Xbox Series X/S consoles, as well as PC. Additionally, the game is compatible with Xbox Cloud Gaming.
With Outbound’s arrival on May 11, you may not have to worry about it leaving the catalog any time soon, as titles tend to remain on the service for around a year. Even so, playing it soon allows you not only to enjoy the exclusive day-one benefits of the Ultimate or PC Game Pass subscription, but also to check out a cozy exploration game on Xbox Game Pass that should feel like a relaxing experience altogether, should you be looking for one.
Outbound is an open-world game set in a colorful world where you get to build your own motorhome. In this indie title, you can create workstations and start sourcing energy from natural resources around you, like the sun, wind, or water. As you progress, your vehicle becomes better and more customizable than ever. In addition to upgrading your mobile home, you can also enjoy cozy game mechanics, such as farming and adopting pets.
The game can be enjoyed alone or with up to four players online via its co-op mode. Outbound is the latest day-one addition to Microsoft’s subscription service, and while its reviews are a bit mixed, the game does have a lot to offer. If you’re slightly curious about it, I encourage you to download it for free using your Xbox Game Pass membership.
