Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso has hinted that midfielder Jordan Henderson is close to making his club debut.
The 36-year-old joined the Blues on a surprise free transfer following his release from Brentford this summer.
Henderson arrived late after his World Cup participation with England and therefore did not have a pre-season.
Hence, he has yet to play a single minute for the Blues, but Alonso has revealed that the midfielder is not far from his debut.
He said in today’s presser: “He’s getting closer and closer to playing time.”
Chelsea are currently short in the midfield department after selling Enzo Fernandez to Manchester City without a replacement.
Moises Caicedo is also on the sidelines with an injury and he is a huge doubt to face Arsenal in the Premier League on Sunday.
Romeo Lavia could be paired with either Valentin Barco or captain Reece James in the heart of the midfield against the Gunners.
