Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso has provided a big injury update on midfielder Moises Caicedo ahead of the Premier League clash against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday.
The Blues have started the league season in fine fashion with back-to-back wins and will aim to extend the streak against the Gunners on the road this weekend.
The west London giants have not won at the Emirates since a 2-0 win in August 2021. This was their last victory of any form against the English champions.
Ahead of Sunday’s game, Alonso has revealed that Caicedo will be assessed, having been substituted with a fresh injury during the win over Brighton.
He said: “We will check tomorrow. Tomorrow is the last decision for the squad on Sunday. We need to not be worried. These things can happen and we need to check. Tomorrow we will make the final decision.”
Caicedo has been the Blues’ best central midfielder by a long stretch and his return against the Gunners would represent a huge boost for Alonso’ side.
