Steve Smith and Cameron Green steady Australia before West Indies fight back

After winning the toss, Australia elected to bat first on a slightly green pitch. Their openers Usman Khawaja and Sam Konstas showed some resistance this time, both managing to score in double digits. However, a few quick wickets in the middle order forced the visitors to play cautiously. Steve Smith once again rose to the occasion with a crisp 48, complemented by Cameron Green. The duo stitched together a partnership of 61 runs for the third wicket, putting Australia in a strong position.

But the hosts turned things around in remarkable fashion, picking up regular breakthroughs and bundling Australia out for 225 runs, with no batter reaching a half-century. Alex Carey and Pat Cummins contributed valuable runs down the order, with Cummins entertaining the crowd by hitting three sixes, pushing their side past 200 on the opening day.

Shamar Joseph leads the Windies pace attack 

For West Indies, it was another impressive outing with the ball. Their pacers put up a strong fight throughout the innings, with Shamar Joseph taking four key wickets, backed by Jayden Seales and Justin Greaves, who picked up three wickets each. It was a brilliant collective bowling effort from the hosts, showing great discipline and teamwork under the challenging pink-ball conditions.

In their reply, West Indies lost their debutant opener Kevlon Anderson before stumps, cleaned up by Mitchell Starc with a brilliant delivery that swung late. The responsibility now lies on skipper Roston Chase and the experienced Brandon King to ensure a steady start for their side as they head into day two, aiming to build a solid foundation and avoid further early setbacks.
