New Zealand seal memorable Test series win in England

While emotions surrounded Stokes’ farewell, New Zealand completed a memorable 160-run victory at Trent Bridge to clinch the three-match Test series 2-1. It marked England’s first home Test series defeat in a series of three or more matches in 14 years. The visitors laid the foundation with an impressive first-innings total of 438, powered by superb centuries from Devon Conway (157) and skipper Latham (151). England responded with 354, thanks to a brilliant 113 from Ben Duckett, leaving New Zealand with an 84-run advantage.

Daryl Mitchell then produced a courageous unbeaten century in the second innings to help New Zealand declare on 288/9, setting England a daunting target of 373. Stokes opened the batting in his farewell innings and entertained the crowd with a quickfire 30 off 20 deliveries, but England were eventually bowled out for 212.
