Barbados Tridents secured an important four-wicket victory over St Kitts and Nevis Patriots in their Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2026 encounter on Thursday. The Tridents produced a disciplined bowling performance before completing the chase despite losing early wickets.
The match also featured a superb moment from Gudakesh Motie, who removed Naseem Shah with a quick delivery that went straight through the Pakistan pacer. The dismissal came towards the end of the Patriots’ innings as they were bowled out for 118.
Gudakesh Motie beats Naseem Shah with a quick delivery
With St Kitts and Nevis Patriots looking to add a few more runs to their total, Motie delivered a quick and flat ball that pitched full and curved into the off and middle stumps. Naseem attempted to get forward and flick the delivery but was beaten by the pace and movement.
The ball went straight through Shah’s defence and crashed into the stumps. Naseem was dismissed for a golden duck, with Motie finishing with figures of 2/30 from his four overs. The wicket came on the 15.6th ball of the innings and completed a difficult batting effort from the Patriots, who were eventually bowled out for 118.

Chris Green’s four-wicket burst puts Tridents in control
The Patriots’ innings got off to a disastrous start as they slipped to 6/3. Johnson Charles, Kyle Mayers and Andre Fletcher were unable to make an impact, with Chris Green claiming two of those early wickets. Green continued to trouble the Patriots and removed Alick Athanaze and Dasun Shanaka as well. St Kitts and Nevis Patriots were reduced to 51/6 before Wanindu Hasaranga launched a counter-attack.
Hasaranga smashed 45 from just 25 balls, hitting four fours and three sixes, while Jeremiah Louis added 12 from eight deliveries. However, the Patriots could only reach 118 before being bowled out on the final ball of their innings. Green finished with excellent figures of 4/20 from four overs and also took two catches. His all-round contribution earned him the Player of the Match award.
Quinton de Kock guides Barbados Tridents home
Barbados Tridents also endured a difficult start to their chase, losing Brandon King and Rivaldo Clarke inside the opening over before Zachary Carter was dismissed to leave them at 27/3. Quinton de Kock then took control of the innings and played a crucial unbeaten knock. The South African wicketkeeper-batter scored 44 not out from 43 balls to keep the Tridents on course.
Shadrack Descarte contributed 19, while Sherfane Rutherford provided momentum with 23 from 17 deliveries. Daniel Sams eventually finished the chase with an unbeaten nine from four balls as Barbados reached 120/6. Jason Holder was the Patriots’ most successful bowler with three wickets, while Naseem claimed two. However, their batting collapse proved costly as Barbados Tridents completed the chase with four wickets in hand.
The victory took Barbados Tridents to eight points from eight matches and lifted them from the bottom of the CPL 2026 points table to fourth place. St Kitts and Nevis Patriots, meanwhile, slipped to sixth after their latest defeat.
