WATCH: 42-year-old Dwayne Bravo takes age-defying catch to dismiss Faf du Plessis in WCL 2026

South Africa Champions produced a dominant performance against West Indies Champions in the third match of the World Championship of Legends (WCL) 2026 at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Sunday. South Africa posted a mammoth 242/5 before bowling out the West Indies for 145 in 18.2 overs, securing a commanding 97-run victory. However, amid the big hitting and impressive bowling spells, Dwayne Bravo stole the spotlight with a stunning piece of fielding to dismiss Faf du Plessis.

Dwayne Bravo takes a stunning catch to dismiss Faf du Plessis

At 42 years of age, Bravo showed that his sharp reflexes and athletic ability remain very much intact. The veteran all-rounder produced one of the standout moments of the match when he pulled off a spectacular one-handed catch to send back the dangerous du Plessis.

The South Africa Champions had made an explosive start after opting to bat first, with du Plessis and Richard Levi putting the West Indies Champions under immediate pressure. The opening pair attacked the bowling and found the boundary regularly, putting their opponents on the back foot.

The breakthrough eventually arrived in the fifth over. Du Plessis attempted to loft a flighted delivery over the infield, but failed to make clean contact. The ball came off the toe-end of the bat and went high into the air, appearing to have enough distance to clear the fielders.

Bravo, positioned around mid-off, immediately reacted to the ball. He began sprinting backwards while keeping his eyes firmly on it. As he realised the ball was travelling beyond his reach, the 42-year-old threw himself into the air and stretched out his right hand. In an incredible display of athleticism, Bravo managed to pluck the ball one-handed while airborne. He held on safely before landing on the ground, completing a catch that left everyone at the venue stunned.

South Africa Champions get the better of West Indies Champions

While Bravo’s catch provided a memorable highlight, it was South Africa Champions who controlled the contest from start to finish. Levi led the batting charge with a blistering 87 off 39 balls, while captain AB de Villiers provided further fireworks with an impressive 70 off 39 deliveries. Their contributions helped South Africa Champions reach 242/5, setting the West Indies Champions an enormous target.

West Indies side struggled to maintain the same momentum during their chase. Although captain Chris Gayle produced a vintage performance with 60 off 31 balls, the rest of the batting lineup failed to provide enough support.
Carlos Brathwaite offered some resistance with 29 off 13 balls, but the West Indies Champions were eventually bowled out for 145 in 18.2 overs.

Imran Tahir and Aaron Phangiso played key roles with the ball, claiming three wickets apiece. Tahir finished with impressive figures of 3/24, while Phangiso returned 3/49. South Africa Champions consequently secured a comprehensive 97-run victory, but Bravo’s spectacular catch remained one of the most memorable moments of the encounter.
