War For Roshar Officially Announced For Fall 2026

Since its debut with The Way of Kings in 2010, Brandon Sanderson’s The Stormlight Archive has grown into one of modern fantasy’s defining epics. Praised for its unmatched and sprawling world-building, Radiant Orders and Surgebinding magic, and unforgettable cast of unique characters, the series has amassed a devoted global fanbase while helping cement Sanderson as one of the genre’s most influential authors.

As anticipation continues to build for future Cosmere novels, fans also have an exciting new way to experience Roshar beyond the page through the recently launched Cosmere Roleplaying Game. Developed by Brotherwise Games in partnership with Dragonsteel, the tabletop RPG allows players to create original adventures in the world of The Stormlight Archive, with a dedicated Mistborn campaign setting and sourcebooks arriving later this year.

However, a new announcement from Brotherwise indicates one of the most exciting upcoming adventures in Sanderson’s iconic universe will be Stormlight: War for Roshar, officially arriving this fall.

According to Brotherwise, Stormlight: War for Roshar is a brand-new “epic war game” that will be getting first look reveals at the upcoming Gen Con at the end of the month, taking place from July 30 to August 2. Fans of the Stormlight Archive will not want to miss out on this one, and the official Kickstarter campaign is set to arrive this Fall.

While there are still very few details available regarding War for Roshar, Dragonsteel Books provided a small glimpse at what we can expect in a teaser announcement late last year. They describe it as “a three hour war game that pits the forces of the coalition against the powers of Odium in the battle for Roshar.”

Brotherwise also offered up a warning about this project, calling it a “complicated one” that is likely to “unite you and your allies while constantly risking a table-flipping concession of defeat from your frustrated opposition.” War for Roshar incorporates game design from Hayden Dillard and John D. Clair, the creator of the Unstoppable and the Mistborn Deckbuilding Game, which is officially getting an expansion this year as welll.

Stormlight: War for Roshar is expected to “blend the tactical depth of a war game with the approachability that Cosmere fans might look for from a tie-in game.” For now, that’s all we know about the upcoming strategy-based tabletop war game, but more details will be available after first reveals at Gen Con in Indianapolis, IN later this month, and you’ll want to keep an eye out for the official Kickstarter launch as well this coming Fall.
