Virat Kohli shares heartfelt message after RCB’s IPL 2026 title triumph



The historic IPL 2026 triumph of Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) continues to dominate discussions, with franchise icon Virat Kohli now sharing an emotional message about the team’s memorable journey. Days after leading RCB to their second consecutive IPL title, Kohli took to social media to express his feelings about the successful campaign and the bond he shares with the Bengaluru-based franchise.

RCB defeated Gujarat Titans (GT) by five wickets in the IPL 2026 final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on May 31. The victory made them only the third team in tournament history to successfully defend an IPL title, joining an elite list of champions. Having finally broken their trophy drought in 2025, RCB followed it up with another dominant season, finishing as one of the strongest sides in the competition.

Looking back on the campaign, Kohli shared a heartfelt message on X alongside a video celebrating RCB’s successful season. The former captain highlighted the emotions, challenges and togetherness that defined the team’s journey to another championship.

“Started the season with belief. Ended with back-to-back titles. This team lived every emotion together. The highs, the pressure, the hurdles, and the unwavering support. It feels extra special because… this place is HOME!” Kohli wrote.

The post quickly gained traction among fans, with many celebrating the veteran batter’s deep connection with the franchise. Having represented RCB since the inaugural IPL season in 2008, Kohli remains one of the few players to spend his entire IPL career with a single team, making the message even more special for Bengaluru supporters.

Kohli shines as RCB defend their IPL crown

Kohli once again played a pivotal role in RCB’s title-winning campaign. In the final against the Gujarat Titans, he anchored the chase with an unbeaten 75 off 42 deliveries, striking nine boundaries and three sixes. He also hit the winning shot as RCB comfortably chased down the target after restricting GT to 155/8.

The experienced batter finished IPL 2026 as one of the tournament’s standout performers. Across 16 innings, Kohli accumulated 675 runs at an impressive average of 56.25 and a strike rate of 165.84. His season included one century and five half-centuries, underlining his consistency and adaptability in the shortest format.

Following the title win, Kohli also spoke about the confidence within the squad, noting that the pressure felt different compared to the previous season. With a settled core, strong leadership under Rajat Patidar and a balanced squad, RCB successfully carried their momentum from 2025 into another championship-winning campaign.
