Varys’s Riddle Officially Releases August 14

There’s no shortage of iconic and beloved characters from HBO’s Game of Thrones television series, but arguably one of the best-written and best-acted in the show comes from none other than Conleth Hill’s portrayal of Lord Varys, the true Master of Whisperers. While Varys’s eventual demise was one of the most disappointing plot points in Game of Thrones history, he unquestionably took part in the most pivotal moments across the series, quietly pulling the strings behind the scenes across multiple claims to the Iron Throne.

From secretly supporting Daenerys across the Narrow Sea to conspiring with Illyrio Mopatis and manipulating the Small Council, Lord Varys consistently worked from the shadows to shape the future of the realm. He aided Tyrion’s escape after Joffrey’s murder, helped orchestrate political alliances, and ultimately turned against Daenerys when he believed Jon Snow would be the better ruler, remaining committed to what he believed served the realm best.

While fans may be holding on to hope that Varys faces a different fate in George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire novels when (or if) they eventually come out, the Master of Whisperers officially returns on August 14 with the launch of Game of Thrones: Varys’s Riddle (via GoT Conquest).

Varys’s Riddle is an upcoming “Total Power” Power-Up Event running from August 14 to August 16 for the long-running Game of Thrones mobile strategy game, GoT: Conquest. Varys’s Riddle is one of Game of Thrones: Conquest‘s recurring Power-Up Events, this time centered on increasing a player’s Total Power rating. Varys’s Riddle occurs somewhat regularly as part of the game’s rolling monthly Power-Up Event schedule, offering players unique rewards.

Developed by WB Games, Game of Thrones: Conquest is a free-to-play mobile strategy MMO that tasks players with expanding their keeps, training armies, researching technologies, collecting heroes, and competing for control of Westeros through PvE and PvP events. Power-Up Events encourage progression in specific areas, with themed challenges focused on Dragons, Buildings, Research, Heroes, Expeditions, or Total Power.

Unlike the more specialized events, Varys’s Riddle rewards players for boosting their overall account strength through a combination of upgrades, making it one of the more useful progression events on the calendar. Players can earn points by improving multiple aspects of their kingdom rather than concentrating on a single system, allowing them to efficiently advance while collecting milestone rewards.

If you haven’t had a chance to play Warner Bros. Boston’s Game of Thrones: Conquest or Game of Thrones: Dragonfire yet, both games are free-to-play mobile strategy games that incorporate unique moments, characters, locations, and dragons from across the expanded Game of Thrones universe. Both games come highly recommended among fans, and are available to play on iOS and Android now.
