Twilight Princess Switch 2 Debut Leaves Fans Torn

With a Nintendo Direct showcase taking place earlier this year, many hoped it would have been the perfect opportunity for Nintendo to announce the port we have all been waiting for. However, with no mention or even a hint at a potential Nintendo Switch 2 port for The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, fans have started to lose hope that the beloved 2006 action-adventure game will ever get the remaster it deserves.

As such, fans have been left feeling heartbroken over a potential release window for what many consider to be the greatest The Legend of Zelda entry of all time.

When Is Twilight Princess Coming To Switch 2?

Celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, it was back in 2006 that Nintendo released The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess on the GameCube and Wii. Taking place a century after the events of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time and The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask, whilst also providing an alternate timeline from The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker, Twilight Princess follows Link as he fights to protect Hyrule from being engulfed by a parallel dimension known as the Twilight Realm.

Receiving critical acclaim and praise for its combat, story, level design, and gameplay, Twilight Princess bagged itself a high-definition remaster back in 2016 titled The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD, but since then, the beloved entry has yet to receive a modern-day remaster, and, at the time of writing, there has been no official confirmation of a Nintendo Switch 2 port.

With some fans convinced that Nintendo deliberately skipped bringing Twilight Princess to the Nintendo Switch in order to focus on its Nintendo Switch 2 version, it has been almost a year since the launch of Nintendo’s latest handheld, and yet there is still no sign of that highly anticipated port.

Zelda Fans Are Getting Twilight Princess On PC First

As a result, fans of Twilight Princess have recently taken to r/zelda to discuss the missing Nintendo Switch 2 after one user shared, “we’re never getting Twilight Princess on Switch 2, are we?” However, the user with the top comment is feeling more hopeful, replying, “Bro, Nintendo rarely acknowledges anniversaries on the day of. They normally do it in the summer. You gotta wait a few months longer. Be patient.” For user LiminalLion, Nintendo is sitting on a gold mine. “I have no interest in buying a Switch 2, but if they made it a Switch 2 exclusive with a nice HD port that looks good on the system, I would buy one,” they shared. “I’m sure there are others in my boat. I’m an older adult without a ton of time for gaming, but some of the classics are worth reliving for me. This is my favorite Zelda game of them all. Unbelievable it’s been in the dark for this long.”

We have gone so long without a Nintendo Switch port for Twilight Princess, that an unofficial PC port is already playable for fans, allowing them to experience the beloved 2006 title on the biggest screen yet. Hopefully the success of projects such as this will finally inspire Nintendo to give fans what they have all been waiting for: a Nintendo Switch 2 port for The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess.
