Thomas Frank has now emerged as the leading contender to replace Alvaro Arbeloa at Fulham if the Spanish tactician is removed from his position at Craven Cottage, according to a report from talkSPORT.

While Arbeloa might have only arrived in west London over the summer, the former Real Madrid boss already finds the pressure on his shoulders at a boiling point.

Suffering a spectacular last-gasp collapse away at Premier League newcomers Ipswich last weekend as they marked their return from September’s extended international break with a 2-1 loss at Portman Road, Fulham sit rock-bottom of the Premier League table.

At the heart of what is becoming a public crisis, the Cottagers are winless from any of their first six top-flight appearances and they have only put two points on the board.

With fans around west London making their frustrations abundantly clear on either side of September’s lengthy interval, talkSPORT are reporting that the Fulham hierarchy could be willing to turn to one of their former rivals.

Without a job since leaving Tottenham back in February following a nightmare eight-month spell in charge, the former Brentford boss is reportedly sat in pole position for a potential return to west London.

Facing a season-defining fortnight as they meet both Hull and Coventry, talkSPORT are also suggesting that tensions between Arbeloa and his senior players are already growing.
