The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 3 Trailer Reveals Belly’s Wedding & Massive Twists For Main Love Triangle

The official trailer for The Summer I Turned Pretty season 3 reveals more of Belly’s life with Jeremiah, their wedding plans, and Conrad’s return. The third season of The Summer I Turned Pretty is slated to be the show’s last, as it will adapt the final book in Jenny Han’s trilogy, We’ll Always Have Summer. With Belly (Lola Tung) and Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno) seemingly settled in their relationship and Belly looking forward to her senior year of college, only one thing could truly rattle their love story: Conrad’s (Christopher Briney) lingering feelings for Belly.

Though The Summer I Turned Pretty‘s season 3 trailer starts with a shot of Belly, the first of the two love interests shown is Conrad, as Belly’s voice-over says, “First loves are important.” It switches to a shot of her and Jeremiah hugging and kissing as the voice-over continues, “… but they’re not as important as lasts.” The trailer then sees Conrad confirming that he was once in love with Belly, and the rest of the footage sets up Belly’s tumultuous relationship with Jeremiah, their plans to get married, and Belly’s rekindled friendship with Conrad. Check out the footage below:

What The Trailer Means For The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 3

Conrad’s Not The Only One Standing In The Way Of Belly And Jeremiah’s Happily Ever After

In one scene in the trailer, Belly and Jeremiah announce to the rest of the family they’re planning on getting married. Naturally, everyone looks shocked, including Belly’s brother, Steven (Sean Kaufman), her mother, Laurel (Jackie Chung), and Conrad. Though Conrad undoubtedly has big feelings about his little brother and Belly’s upcoming nuptials, Laurel seems to be the one most resistant to the idea. In the footage, she talks to Belly and Jeremiah one-on-one and tells them in no uncertain terms that she doesn’t think they’re ready for that kind of commitment.

Will Jeremiah truly be her last love? Or will Conrad take his place?

Though the trailer’s final shot seems to tease a wedding ceremony, the question remains: who is Belly getting married to? Laurel’s doubt about Jeremiah and Belly’s relationship may be the first domino, as Jeremiah’s jealousy over Conrad, Conrad’s proximity, and the pressure of the future threaten to turn Belly’s whole world upside down. Will Jeremiah truly be her last love? Or will Conrad take his place?

Plenty Of Drama Still To Come

Of course, as we’d expect from this genre, Belly’s happily-ever-after won’t be easy. She’ll have to work hard to maintain her relationship with Jeremiah, as his insecurities regarding Conrad are out in full force, and readers of the books will know that Jeremiah does something painfully self-destructive in the story, too. Nevertheless, Jenny Han has confirmed that the show’s super-sized third and final season will feature “surprises” and “things that aren’t exactly like the books” (via Entertainment Weekly), so even fans of the original story won’t know what they’re in for.
