The Possibility of Claire being Appearing In The New Prequel

Starz’s beloved series is getting a spinoff with Outlander: Blood of My Blood, and the showrunner has revealed information about Claire’s potential appearance. Outlander first premiered on Starz on August 9, 2014. The show is still ongoing, with Outlander season 8, which will be the final season, expected to premiere in early 2026. The series follows Claire (Caitríona Balfe), who is transported through time.

The spinoff serves as a prequel, and focuses on the parents of the original series’ main characters in two different timelines. The show is also said to still feature elements of time travel, like in the original show, and some Outlander characters have been confirmed to return for the prequel.

During an interview with ScreenRant, showrunner Matthew B. Roberts and executive producer Maril Davis were asked about Claire and her uncle. While they both had vague answers to the questions, they hinted that she may pop up in the prequel show, and they also stated that they are fully aware of what Claire and her uncle are both currently up to. Check out their comments below:

ScreenRant: Now, I assume you’re not going to tell me if we’re ever going to see Claire, while her parents are gone, see her uncle. But do you two know what her uncle is doing, and how Claire is doing right now as we speak?

Matthew B. Roberts: Yes, we do. I know exactly where they are and what they’re doing.

Maril Davis: Claire’s playing tiddlywinks. [Chuckles]

Matthew B. Roberts: Yeah, she’s doing something creative, I’ll tell you that. Yeah, we know exactly, and never say never.

What This Means For Outlander: Blood Of My Blood

Based on the comments made by Davis and Roberts, it’s possible that Claire will appear in Blood of My Blood, but it’s unclear how. Her uncle, Beauchamp Fraser, is a prominent character in Outlander, and since he was around when Claire’s parents were alive, he may pop up in the prequel series.

Claire’s story is left off with a cliffhanger at the end of Outlander season 7. At the end of the finale, Claire recovers from an injury and finds out her child, whom she thought was a stillborn, is actually alive. While Outlander: Blood of My Blood is a prequel, it may feature a jump to Claire’s Outlander plotline because it is a time-travel show.

Our Take On Claire Potentially Appearing In Outlander’s Prequel

Murtaugh and Brian in Outlander Blood of My Blood

Claire is a prominent character in Outlander, so to see her appear in any capacity in Outlander: Blood of My Blood would be like candy for any fan. However, it will have to make sense to the plot for Claire to appear in the prequel, or else it could feel like cheap fan service.

However, because of the vagueness of the answers, the creators could have been hinting at Claire appearing in Outlander season 8 and not Outlander: Blood of My Blood, but that seems less likely. Nevertheless, fans will have to wait and see if Claire appears in the prequel when they tune in for Outlander: Blood of My Blood.
