The Last Of Us Meets Far Cry In New Zombie FPS

It was in the early 2000s that the romanticization of the zombie archetype kicked off in earnest, and in the 2010s, it really kicked off with media such as The Walking Dead and The Last of Us bringing the genre back to the forefront of storytelling. With callbacks to the early 19th century, the zombie genre has captured the hearts and minds of consumers, so it is no surprise that another upcoming survival FPS will see us fight against hordes of the undead in fast-paced PvP action.

The game in question is AZUR, and it combines the zombie-action of The Last of Us with the open-world setting of Far Cry to bring us “a fast-paced PvP survival FPS set on the French island of Belmas.” Developed by KADES Studio, AZUR is set to launch in Q3 of 2027, so it will be quite some time until we are expected to spawn in, complete missions, explore, and get out with the best gear. However, as with every Steam title, AZUR is now available to add to your wishlist so that you can keep up to date with its development. Unil then, what else can we expect from AZUR, and how does it separate itself from other zombie shooters?

The melting of the permafrost unleashed the Cryovore virus, poisoning the oceans and turning humans into water-starved creatures known as Riptides.

On the island of Belmas, face other survivors or work together, secure your loot, and uncover what the Black Drip organization is hiding on this Mediterranean island.

Set against a stunning Mediterranean backdrop, AZUR is a setting unlike any other as the screams of victims will be carried away in the ocean breeze and the fluttering of cicada wings as you battle through sweltering heat and crumbling facades. With the sea no longer being a place of comfort, you will explore the once picture-perfect town of Belmas, but with it now abandoned and home to marauders as well as the undead known as Riptides, every moment is a battle for survival.

In this PvP shooter, you will not have to worry about crafting, menus, or routine. You will simply spawn in, find a weapon, and forge ahead, with every fight expected to be fast, brutal and unpredictable. However, making a name for yourself will earn you the attention of the Black Drip, a company which runs its very own storage system. Delivering loot by helicopter or drone, every item you extract will be stored in your inventory, but contacting the smugglers is bound to get you noticed by fellow survivors. Every minute alive counts, and every fight can change your fate.

The top players on the server appear live on Black Drip screens scattered across the island. Killers, Riptide hunters, and endurance survivors all leave a visible mark.

On Belmas, everyone knows who you are, but no one knows where you are hiding.

So, if you are on the lookout for an extraction shooter with heavy PvP combat, set against a stunning Mediterranean backdrop, you will love AZUR when it launches in late 2027.
