Launching back in February of this year as the ninth installment in the Resident Evil franchise, Resident Evil Requiem cemented itself as a potential Game of the Year contender. Featuring the arrival of brand-new protagonist, Grace Ashcroft, we follow her as she is sent to investigate a series of mysterious deaths which all link back to Raccoon City. Luckily, she is joined by series veteran, Leon Kennedy, with the pair teaming up to solve the horrors that still persist after all these years.
Praised for its dark themes, gameplay variations between Grace and Leon, atmosphere, writing, and performances, Resident Evil Requiem is a solid addition to the long-running Capcom franchise, and here at Screen Rant, we awarded it 9/10 stars in our review.
Still, playing as two characters that are this starkly different from each other is an experiment that paid off, and worked out far better than it did with Resident Evil 6. Capcom has thrills down to a science at this point, and Resident Evil Requiem delivers. Long-time fans are going to get more out of this entry than the previous two, and the development team seems to have mastered the first-person perspective. Here’s hoping a VR mode comes eventually.
Now, just a few months after the launch of Resident Evil Requiem, it is back courtesy of an event which is scheduled to take place from 11 September to 27 December 2026. Taking place at Universal Studios Japan, this limited-time event titled Resident Evil Requiem: The Dive is an “R-15 attraction where every step deepens the dread.”
“The hit game Resident Evil Requiem comes to life, and the creatures that stalked you in the game are now closing in on you,” the official event description reads. “They come from above, from below, from every direction, unpredictable and impossible to evade. Step in and scream until your voice gives out in this nightmare like no other.”
With every detail of the game being recreated from The Wrenwood Hotel to the streets that surround it, customers can also expect threats from every direction as they meet characters from the game in a horror experience that they will be lucky to make it out alive from.
“Raccoon City is off-limits,” the official site continues. “On its outskirts stands The Wrenwood Hotel, abandoned and forgotten. When a series of unexplained deaths drew the FBI’s attention, intelligence analyst Grace went in to investigate. She never came back. Now you’ve come looking for her.
“One step inside and the world around you changes. Walls peel and crumble. The hallways hold what’s left of those who came before. And without warning, creatures unlike anything you’ve ever seen come closing in.
Find your courage. Face the horror and make it out alive.”
If you are interested in this Resident Evil Requiem horror experience, eTickets are now available to purchase on the official Universal Studios Japan site, but if it was not already obvious, this event is exclusive to Japan. However, with it expected to run now until December, if you find yourself there, you will not want to miss out on this ultimate horror extravaganza.
