My Adventures with Superman brings back one of the best recent Superman releases with a lot of heart, flair, and surprises, making it an engaging new DC release. In 2025, David Corenswet’s Superman revitalized the Man of Steel on the big screen. He will soon return in 2026’s Supergirl, which focuses on Milly Alcock’s Kara Zor-El, later returning to co-lead 2027’s Man of Tomorrow with Nicholas Hoult’s Lex Luthor. It is safe to say that DC’s slate of projects is perfect for Superman fans. Interestingly, My Adventures with Superman season 3 unites all of those elements before those DC releases.

Fresh off the final season of The Boys, Jack Quaid returns as Superman in the animated series, with Kiana Madeira back as this universe’s Supergirl and the rest of the show’s core cast also coming back. At the end of My Adventures with Superman season 2, the cousins defeated Brainiac, Amanda Waller escaped, and Lex Luthor recruited Deathstroke to work with him at the Lexcorp building. In season 3, the DC series continues those storylines, with Luthor playing a vital role in the story, Supergirl trying to adapt to her new life on Earth, and Superman going on a transformative journey.

For anyone who watched the first two seasons, My Adventures with Superman season 3 features the same kind of explosive fights, world-ending stakes, gorgeously fluid animation, emotional moments, intriguing villains, and heartwarming character dynamics. That said, I did feel that the first half of season 3’s 10 episodes was stronger than the back half, though the returning DC series remains enjoyable throughout. For anyone looking for an impactful Superman story, My Adventures with Superman season 3 offers that in spades. With Alcock’s Supergirl movie right around the corner, the animated series emerges as a timely release to prepare for it.

My Adventures With Superman Season 3 Treats DC Characters Well & Explores A Major Storyline

It is no surprise that My Adventures with Superman knows how to mix popular characters from DC lore with obscure picks, treating all of them with respect and modernizing characters’ motivations and designs. My Adventures with Superman season 3 is no different. Like Alcock’s Supergirl movie will explore, Madeira’s version of Supergirl in the animated series is complex, and she is having a complicated time adjusting to life on Earth. That was to be expected, given how her entire life had been devoted to serving an evil adoptive father in the form of Brainiac. Supergirl has one of the season’s most interesting arcs.

After slowly growing in importance over the first two seasons of the DC series, Lex Luthor (Max Mittelman) now gets more to do in season 3, and he ends up being crucial to the plot. The show’s version of Lex does not feel like a full-on evil mastermind, though his creations do lead to the series’ biggest threats. The back-and-forth between Lex and Slade Wilson (Chris Parnell) adds a dose of levity to a surprisingly darker season than I had been expecting heading in. Another key villain in season 3 is Cyborg Superman, who is powerful and changes the game.

After Hank Henshaw played a role in Brainiac’s arc in season 2, he evolves, becoming Cyborg Superman as the animated series explores DC Comics’ “The Reign of the Supermen” storyline in season 3. Those expecting an exact recreation of the comics will be disappointed, as My Adventures with Superman does its own version of the event, bringing in other Superman replacements to shake things up in a major way. The biggest of them is Superboy. After Supergirl was added in season 2, the Superman family of characters just seems to keep growing, and he is played by the perfect actor.

My Adventures with Superman season 3’s Superboy is voiced by Darren Criss, who is known for playing Blaine in Glee and, more recently, having served as the voice of Superman in DC’s animated Tomorrowverse franchise. Criss’ Superman was one of the best parts of that franchise, and as Superboy, he gets to flex a whole new set of muscles. The animated series’ Superboy is funny, charming, and one of season 3’s most vibrant parts. He adds a new dynamic to the core cast of characters, pushing the story forward in new emotional ways.

Towards the end of the season, Criss gets even more to do with Superboy as a new side of the DC hero is revealed, and through calmer, more emotionally charged moments, the Emmy-winning actor shows he was the perfect casting choice for Superboy. Finally, Quaid’s Clark Kent and Alice Lee’s Lois Lane go on quite the journey in season 3. Lois and Clark’s relationship has been a core part of the DC series, and in season 3, they get to take a long look at the choices they have made so far and whether they truly see a home in one another.

My Adventures With Superman Season 3 Is A Tale Of Two Halves

Overall, I really enjoyed My Adventures with Superman season 3. However, there is a major event that fundamentally changes the show around the halfway mark, making the first five episodes very different from the latter half of the season. After sitting with the show for a bit, I believe that season 3’s first half is stronger than what comes after. The major threat is set up nicely, the characters’ arcs get exciting new developments, Superman is at his best, and Superboy’s arrival is sure to delight viewers. When the final five episodes arrive, the series’ shift in narrative drags for too long.

I understand the story the team behind the DC series set out to tell, and it does have plenty of emotional beats, but Superman kind of takes a backseat in a show where Quaid’s version of the Man of Steel is so vibrant and engaging that it impacts the series negatively. Still, the My Adventures with Superman season 3 finale is every bit as epic as the previous episodes had set it up to be, and the back half brings about some surprising returns, with one of them being something I did not expect to happen at all.

My Adventures with Superman season 3’s ending includes two major reveals that tease what is to come from the DC series in a possible season 4. One of them relates to a new threat that is set up to be the most terrifying foe Superman has faced thus far, and I can’t wait to see how that pans out. The other is a true game-changer that should please fans and will forever change the series in a positive way. As such, My Adventures with Superman season 3, while somewhat uneven, is a winning effort for the DC series.
