Despite getting a seeming tease from the star himself he’d be back, Matt Duffer points to Joseph Quinn’s Eddie Munson being absent from Stranger Things season 5.
During an interview with Empire for the first part of the final season’s debut, Duffer was asked about the possibility of Quinn’s return as Eddie Munson for Stranger Things season 5. The co-creator/co-showrunner definitively confirmed the fan-favorite character is “dead“, while also pointing out that Quinn’s busy schedule would have made it challenging to bring him back. I love that Joe Quinn is toying with people! But no, he’s dead. Joe is so busy, anyway, that everyone should know he’s not coming back. He’s shot like five movies since! When the hell has he got time to come and shoot Stranger Things? No, sadly, RIP. He’s fully under that ground.
