Steam Drops 2 Free Games You Have 24 Hours To Grab

Steam is the premier gaming platform on PC, with thousands of games for players to choose from, with everything from fast-paced multiplayer shooters to deep strategy experiences. At the same time, it has also become a great place to go for free games, both time-limited and permanent, not least because of how massive the storefront is in the sector.

Whether it’s via games that are always free-to-play, with classics like Warframe and Counter-Strike 2, or those that temporarily cross the divide, there’s a ton of fun to be had without spending any of your hard-earned money. Now, the latest of those went live just before the weekend, and you still have 24 hours to give them a go.

Over on SteamDB, they regularly keep track of the latest free game offerings on the storefront, with two games being made free-to-play for this weekend. That offer runs until May 11, so you still have a little over a day to get involved in the action and see if either of them manage to strike the right chord with you.

The first is FOUNDRY, a base-building automation game from Channel 3 Entertainment and Paradox Interactive that tasks players with building a sophisticated robot factory. To make that a reality, you’ll have to secure a bunch of resources from the natural environment while researching new technologies to make your production bigger and more efficient.

It’s a game that encourages players into automating as much as possible along the way, and it should appeal to those with a tactical mind who like to strategize their next move closely.

The other option if that doesn’t appeal is The Midnight Walkers, a hardcore zombie FPS that essentially functions as an extraction shooter with survival elements. Along the way, you’ll be crafting weapons, armor, and consumables, while maintaining a hideout and trading with other players.

Though the reviews for the latter are not super positive right now, there’s really no risk to giving it a try when it’s totally free. If you do end up enjoying FOUNDRY, it’s also 30% off right now, so you can carry on playing at a reduced rate.

Steam does tend to offer up at least two games for free heading into any given weekend, so it’s always worth checking back in to see what’s available if you’re looking for a good time without spending anything. Though it won’t end up including hits every weekend, it’s a great way to discover games you otherwise may not have played.
