Steam 2026 Fantasy RPG Is Completely Free Until May 17

The weekend is fast approaching and what better way to celebrate by getting stuck into an epic fantasy RPG for absolutely free? Courtesy of Steam, one story-rich, action RPG is free for the upcoming weekend only, giving players the chance to experience “a thrilling new adventure, where every choice has consequences.”

The title in question is none other than GreedFall: The Dying World. Developed by Spiders and released back in March, this action RPG set in the GreedFall universe will see players ripped from their island and have to travel across a war-torn, disease-ravaged Old Continent in order to fight and regain their freedom alongside powerful allies.

Now, from 13-17 May, Steam users will be able to enjoy the game for absolutely free in this limited-time deal. With the game usually costing upwards of $35, this is one hell of a freebie, and one you should definitely take advantage of if you are a fan of open-world fantasy RPGs.

Inspired by 17th-century Europe, GreedFal: The Dying World is a narrative-driven RPG where you will be able to create your very own character, complete with the ability to choose appearance, attributes, talents, and abilities. As you progress throughout the game and fight for your freedom, you will meet powerful allies who will be beneficial in your journey, but every alliance you form will have consequences, and every decision you make could change the fate of the world.

Force is far from your only option in successfully overcoming the traps and challenges you encounter along the way. Use diplomacy to persuade your opponents, craft your own equipment, find hidden treasures, and access forbidden places with cunning tricks and disguises.
You are the master of your own destiny.

With the story of GreedFall: The Dying World taking place three years after the events of the first game, you will see yourself returning to the lush lands of Gacane and, after escaping your captors, you will journey all across the land, from “the Old Continent; visit Olima, the City of Stars, and its scientific observatory, set sail for the shores of Uxantis, the port capital of the Nauts, and make your way along the perilous roads of Thynea, lined with ancient ruins.”

As you recruit allies and meet a total of eight memorable companions, you will soon learn that each of them has their own beliefs, secrets, and abilities which will help both on and off the battlefield. Build your team, control them during battle, but most importantly, learn all about them and achieve the maximum team synergy as you embark on your journey.

From simple ally to soul mate, your futures are linked, and each of your decisions affects how they see you. Forge lasting friendships, or even find true love, but be careful! Your actions will affect the strength of your bond, or be their reason for leaving.
