Steam is constantly delivering new experiences. You can log on to Steam on any given day and find something you’ve never seen before, which is impressive for just about any storefront. While no digital marketplace is perfect, Steam comes close a lot of the time, especially when it comes to variety.
For instance, sci-fi fans and fantasy fans don’t get to enjoy combo projects all that often, because they’re incredibly hard to make. Nailing the exact right formula is tough, especially if you’re crafting a completely new world.
Over on Steam, you can find a game that mixes up elements of both Stargate and Dungeon Crawler Carl, which isn’t a combination you see every day. It also has strong community support and plenty of post-launch content, so you should be ready if you’re willing to dive in.
Fantasy And Sci-Fi Mix Together
Live on Steam, you can pick up Remnant 2, which blends a ton of popular genres into one massive solo or co-op experience. Since it’s been in development for quite some time, there’s a lot to sift through:
“Remnant 2 pits survivors of humanity against new deadly creatures and god-like bosses across terrifying worlds. Play solo or co-op with two other friends to explore the depths of the unknown to stop an evil from destroying reality itself. As the sequel to the best-selling game Remnant: From the Ashes that pits survivors of humanity against new deadly creatures and god-like bosses across terrifying worlds. Play solo or co-op with two other friends to explore the depths of the unknown to stop an evil from destroying reality itself. To succeed, players will need to rely on their own skills and those of their team to overcome the toughest challenges and to stave off humanity’s extinction.”
The idea is that Remnant 2 mixes both ranged and melee combat into one swift battle system, where you take on horrifying enemies and bosses across multiple realms. The game features branching quest lines and tons of character customization as you make your way through procedurally generated zones.
Lore is a huge part of the world of Remnant, and the sequel expands the universe far beyond the original. At times it’s almost overwhelming, but a lot of it is also easy to ignore if you’d rather just get wrapped up in combat and exploration.
Positive Reviews Back Up This RPG
Right now, Remnant 2 has a “very positive” rating on Steam, with fans lauding its improvements since launch, as well as the copious amounts of content it’s added through free updates and paid DLC. As one rave writes:
“This is one of my favorite games of all time for a reason. Crisp mechanics. Lots of builds. Amazing gunplay. The sound fx and graphics are icing on the cake. Truly a gem. All the guns feel very different and powerful. Melee is done so well. A 3rd-person shooter with Souls-like bosses…absurd amounts of real secrets with tons of replayability.”
Steam users should definitely check out Remnant 2, especially when it’s on one of its numerous sale runs. With three DLC packs available, there’s a lot to do after the credits roll.
