Aside from maybe Dandadan, Spy X Family might just have Shonen Jump’s most anticipated and closely followed romance at the moment. Albeit built on secrets and deceit, the slow-burning romance between Loid and Yor has been riveting and fans have been rooting for the two from the very beginning of the series.
Well, at long last, after seven whole years, Twilight and the Thorn Princess are finally making progress. Their true feelings are out in the open even if their true identities aren’t, and a shocking confession just set the romance on the fast track.
Spy X Family Finally Confirms Loid’s Feelings for Yor
After years of rationalizing everything in the name of Operation Strix, Chapter #134 of Spy X Family sees a rare moment of candor from Loid as he admits he loves Yor. The chapter sees Yuri take Loid to a gathering with his colleagues from the State Security Service, where the latter is then grilled to determine if he’s truly worthy enough for Yor.
After a grueling round of rapid-fire questions, one of the attendees, Captain Nicholson simply asks Loid if he loves his wife, to which Loid agrees without a hint of hesitation. And, perhaps the most shocking part is that Captain Nicholson, a veteran with thirteen years of experience, does not detect even a hint of deception in Loid’s confession.
Spy x Family has quickly become one of the most beloved series of the past few years thanks to one simple quality most can’t pull off.
Now, one could argue that Loid is an exceptional spy capable of lying through his teeth, as fans have seen him do time and time again throughout the series. However, recent developments in Spy X Family also lend believability to his confession. In the latest story arc, Loid, Yor, and Yuri recently found themselves being held hostage at a television broadcasting station when it was hijacked by a group unhappy with the ending of the show.
In the aftermath of the hijacking in Chapter #132, Yor expresses her worries that Loid could have died. This prompts Loid to realize that he has lost sight of himself and become emotional instead of objectively focused on his survival and Operation Strix. At the time, Loid himself wasn’t sure what he meant by emotional and mentally grappled with separating his dedication to the mission and that to his family. Clearly, while he may not be aware or ready to accept it just yet, Loid’s feelings are indeed genuine and this latest confession in Chapter #134 was a clear window into them.
Yor Has Already Admitted Her Feelings for Loid
All that said, while Loid is nowhere close to admitting these feelings to Yor herself just yet, the TwiYor ship does look like it could sail very soon. After all, Yor has already admitted to being in love with Loid in Chapter #120. After grappling with her emotions for days, the chapter saw Yor finally open up to Anya and accept her feelings for Loid, though a confession to him might still be far off on Yor’s part as well.
All that said, Loid and Yor do have a little psychic matchmaker amidst them, and with their feelings now revealed, Anya will surely do what she can to make sure her parents end up together for good. However, with their secret identities as Twilight and the Thorn Princess still in the way, it surely won’t be an easy resolution.
