Leonardo Spinazzola has put pen to paper on a new contract with Napoli, which will keep him at the club until the end of the 2027-28 campaign.
Spinazzola, who joined Napoli from Roma on a free transfer in 2024, had appeared set to leave as a free agent this summer, but he has opted to remain with the Partenopei.
The 33-year-old has made 72 appearances for Napoli in all competitions, scoring four goals as well as providing six assists.
He started 30 of his 42 outings under Antonio Conte last season, but persistent struggles with injuries saw his playing time limited, which led to him being linked with a move away.
But Spinazzola, who has won the Serie A title and Supercoppa Italiana during his time in Naples, has decided to stay put for the next two years.
“SSC Napoli is happy to announce that Leonardo Spinazzola’s contract with the club has been extended until 30 June 2028,” the Serie A giants said in a statement.
“Spinazzola made his official debut for Napoli on 10 August 2024 in the Coppa Italia match against Modena.
“He has made a total of 72 appearances for the Azzurri, scoring four goals and helping the club win its fourth league title and one Italian Super Cup. Congratulations, Leo!”

Spinazzola’s renewal comes on a day when it is expected that Massimiliano Allegri, who is tipped to replace Conte at Napoli, is set to terminate his contract at AC Milan.
Allegri was sacked at the end of last season after failing to secure Champions League football, with Ruben Amorim appointed as his successor earlier this month.
The Italian remains under contract with Milan and must come to an agreement over an exit package before being allowed to complete his reported switch to Napoli.
It has been reported that Napoli and Allegri have already reached an agreement, with the 58-year-old expected to sign a two-year deal with the club in the coming days.
Conte left Napoli by mutual consent at the end of last season after finishing second to Inter in Serie A and falling at the first hurdle in the Champions League.
