Severance Season 3 Release Timeline Addressed By Star As Filming Continues

EXCLUSIVE: Severance fans continue to endure a long hiatus following a shocking cliffhanger.

Severance premiered on Apple TV in 2022, but reached new levels of viral popularity with the release of its sophomore season in 2025. The thriller following a group of office workers whose memories are severed between their work and outside lives is also a critical phenomenon, winning 10 Primetime Emmys. Now, with filming of Severance season 3 underway, one of the stars is asked when audiences will get to see it.

In an interview with ScreenRant‘s Liam Crowley, Tramell Tillman, who plays the Severed Floor manager Mr. Milchick, talked about filming delays avoided, intense long-term secrecy, and the hope that the third season will premiere next year. There were some concerns that executive producer and director Ben Stiller would have scheduling conflicts, but these were luckily resolved. Check out his comments below:

ScreenRant: I know you’re hard at work on Severance Season 3, if I’m not mistaken. I know Ben said production kicked off at the end of July.

Tramell Tillman: Yes.

ScreenRant: I spoke with Patricia [Arquette] last year, and that was at a time when there was a worry that there was going to be a scheduling conflict with Ben. He wasn’t going to be available to do anything with season 3. Is it fair to say Ben is still involved in season three production?

Tramell Tillman: Yes. I’m not sure what that was about, but—

ScreenRant: He was doing a World War II film with another studio that might’ve had overlapping productions.

Tramell Tillman: Okay. Okay. No, Ben is very much around. We can’t do it without Ben. We love Ben.

Next, the conversation turned to Tillman’s role in the recently released Spider-Man: Brand New Day, and “What has been harder, keeping Spidey secrets or Severance secrets?” Tillman teased that he has been keeping secrets about Severance for years, since 2019, including some that still haven’t been revealed in the show itself. Check out his comments on this and potential Spider-Man secrets below:

ScreenRant: What has been harder, keeping Spidey secrets or Severance secrets?

Tramell Tillman: I would have to say Severance because Severance has been a long period of time. I’ve been holding Severance secrets since 2019. Can you believe it? It’s 2026.

ScreenRant: You’re telling me some secrets that we still don’t know yet?

Tramell Tillman: It’s Severance. Of course.

ScreenRant: How about Spidey? You still keeping Spidey secrets from me?

Tramell Tillman: I’ll never tell.

Finally, ScreenRant directly asked Tillman: “Are you optimistic that we’ll see season three next year?Tillman responded: “I really can’t say. I really can’t say because I honestly do not know.Considering the time post-production usually takes, and the fact that the cast and crew are filming now, late 2027 is a reasonable guess, but anything could happen with a TV show this complex.

The cast of Severance has been lauded across the board for their contradictory performances, especially with several of them essentially playing two different characters, but Trillman in particular has stood out. For his turn as the cruel but conflicted Mr. Milchick, Trillman won the Emmy, the Critics’ Choice Award, and the Golden Globe in the relevant categories this past awards season.

Nonetheless, the biggest shocker in Severance season 2’s ending concerns the two leads, Mark (Adam Scott) and Helly (Britt Lower), who are caught in a disastrous love triangle when Mark’s innie is in love with Helly while his outie is in love with his wife Gemma (Dichen Lachman), and Helly’s outie is the heir to the company keeping them all trapped. As former Severed Floor manager Harmony Cobel (Patricia Arquette) says, there is unlikely to be a happy ending.

Unfortunately, only time will tell how long it will take for the third season to come together. While it is typical for such streaming TV shows to have a long hiatus, Severance being one of the biggest hits of the 2020s is making this one more difficult. Hopefully, the long wait means that the team has created something that lives up to and surpasses the near-perfect seasons already released.

Severance seasons 1 and 2 are available to stream on Apple TV.
