The weather’s turning colder, the leaves are changing, and new video games like Marvel’s Wolverine, The Blood of the Dawnwalker, and Onimusha: Way of the Sword are coming. Although it feels like much of the gaming community is focused on the upcoming release of GTA 6, September 2026 is here now with plenty of entertainment to enjoy. From dark and spooky games to lead us into the Halloween season to incredible cinematic masterpieces, this is sure to be a month to remember.

Even the supreme experience in survival gaming, Valheim, is joining the list, as it finally makes the jump to full release after five exciting years of early access that’s been so successful that it’s hard to believe it wasn’t already in 1.0. Some titles are expanding into new consoles, including an influx of titles moving to the Nintendo Switch 2 hardware. However, most of the games we are seeing this month are entirely new, giving us fresh diversions as the world turns a bit chillier.

Marvel’s Wolverine Is Almost Here

While everyone is going to have their own favorite game to look forward to this month, for many in our community the big news is Marvel’s Wolverine. Starring the famous member of the X-Men that we all know and love, the game will follow Logan’s story as he rejoins Team X after a three-year departure. Mutants are being abducted, but Wolverine is on the case in this action-filled, bloody adventure.

Unfortunately for many gamers, this single-player adventure will only be released for the PS5, not even with a PC port. As a PlayStation 5 exclusive, millions of users will be missing out, but there are still many other games this month that can be enjoyed on other platforms.

Dark Monstrosities And Adventures Heading Into Spooky Season

For many of us, September means the unofficial start of the spooky season as we look forward to all that Halloween brings. While the most obvious title for celebrating this transition is the upcoming Halloween: The Game, many other thrilling titles will also fit the bill. From the horrors of Silent Hill: Townfall to the dark fantasy experience that The Blood of Dawnwalker provides us, it’s easier than ever to get lost in the vibes.

Right from the start of the month, on September 1, we see the release of Crimson Moon. This gothic action-adventure is full of supernatural powers and brutal missions that are overrun with demons, vampires, and more.

Onimusha: Way of the Sword is launching just days later to renew the Onimusha series after eight long years. The samurai-led intense fantasy focuses on heavy swordplay in a dark atmosphere. One of its earlier games, Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams, is currently free to play for PS Plus subscribers if you want a taste of what’s to come with Way of the Sword.

Every Game Releasing In September 2026

Cozy gamers, we haven’t forgotten about you. September 2026 may be full of dark and heavy gaming titles, but there are also plenty of cozy games arriving to play while snuggled in a blanket with a cup of hot cocoa. Among these are the unmistakable artwork of the diorama puzzler, Woodo, the new farming sim experiences like Dragon Shelter, and even the cheerful driving chaos of Hot Wheels Infinite Rush.

With a list this long, especially knowing that there are probably hundreds of additional, smaller releases that were not included, there is absolutely going to be something for everyone to enjoy.
