Pakistan captain Sahibzada Farhan delivered another impressive performance in the third and final T20I against Sri Lanka at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on Wednesday. The opener continued his consistent run with the bat, although Pakistan suffered an eight-wicket defeat in the series finale. Pakistan had already won the first two matches to seal the series on home soil. However, Sri Lanka finished the contest on a positive note by chasing down a target of 169 with 17 deliveries remaining.
Sahibzada Farhan continues his impressive run
Farhan registered his third consecutive half-century of the series to take his overall tally to 238 runs. In the process, he became the highest run-scorer in a bilateral three-match men’s T20I series between two Full Member nations, surpassing India’s Abhishek Sharma, who scored 229 runs against Afghanistan earlier in 2026.
New Zealand’s Colin Munro occupies third place on the list with 223 runs against West Indies in the 2023-24 series. Australia’s David Warner follows with 217 runs against Sri Lanka in 2019, while Afghanistan’s Hazratullah Zazai completes the top five with 204 runs against Ireland in 2019.

Kusal Mendis leads Sri Lanka’s successful chase
Pakistan finished with 168/8 in their 20 overs, but Sri Lanka responded with an outstanding batting display. Captain Kusal Mendis starred with a quickfire 87 off 47 deliveries to guide his team towards victory and earn the Player of the Match award. Kamindu Mendis provided valuable support after the powerplay as Sri Lanka kept the required run rate under control.
The visitors eventually reached the target with eight wickets in hand and 17 balls remaining. Kusal credited his team’s improved bowling and fielding, along with the strong batting effort, for the victory. While Sri Lanka took the final match, Pakistan had already done enough in the opening two games to win the series.
