Run Away: Netflix's Next Harlan Coben Thriller Series

Run Away images reveal Netflix’s next Harlan Coben thriller adaptation. Featuring James Nesbitt, Ruth Jones, Minnie Driver, and Alfred Enoch, Run Away is Netflix’s next Harlan Coben series following the success of Missing You, which was released on January 1, 2025. Run Away is set to premiere exactly one year after that on January 1, 2026.

Now, Netflix has released several first-look images from Run Away, which can be seen in the slideshow below:

The first image shows Minnie Driver and James Nesbitt’s characters, seemingly a couple, lounging casually on a couch reading the newspaper and a magazine. The second image shows Ruth Jones standing behind police tape, seemingly investigating a crime scene. The third and final image shows Alfred Enoch in a police vest raising his hands, seemingly as a cautious gesture.

According to the official synopsis for Run Away, the series follows a father (played by Simon Nesbitt), whose perfect life unravels when his runaway daughter is found in a dangerous situation, leading him into a violent underworld where he uncovers family-shattering secrets. The series carries the tagline, “How far would you go to bring her back?” Read the full synopsis below:

Simon (Nesbitt) had the perfect life: loving wife and kids, great job, beautiful home. But then his eldest daughter Paige ran away, and everything fell apart. So now, when he finds her, vulnerable and strung out on drugs in a city park, he finally has the chance to bring his little girl home. But it turns out she’s not alone, and an argument escalates into shocking violence. In the aftermath, Simon loses his daughter all over again, and his search to find her will take him into a dangerous underworld, revealing deep secrets that could tear his family apart forever.

The cast also includes Lucian Msamati, Jon Pointing, Tracy-Ann Oberman, Annette Badland, Maeve Courtier-Lilley, Ellie de Lange, Adrian Greensmith, Ellie Henry, Ingrid Oliver, Finty Williams, Joe McGann, and Amy Gledhill.

Harlan Coben acts as an executive producer on Run Away, which is among 13 Netflix projects based on the author’s best-selling works. Danny Brocklehurst serves as the lead writer, while the series’ primary directors are Nimer Rashed, who helmed episodes 1–3 and 7–8, and Isher Sahota, who oversaw episodes 4–6.

Following the pattern of previous Harlan Coben adaptations, Run Away‘s story has been shifted from the United States to the United Kingdom, with filming taking place in Manchester and across the North West of England.
