Ronaldo scores career goal 968

Ronaldo is 32 goals shy of 1,000.

Cristiano Ronaldo scored his 24th goal of the Saudi Pro League season as Al Nassr moved five points clear at the top of the table with a 2-0 win at Al Okhdood.

With Al Hilal and Al Ahli both having games postponed this weekend ahead of their respective encounters in the AFC Champions League, Al Nassr knew Saturday’s meeting with their relegation-threatened hosts represented a big opportunity to pile pressure on their fellow title challengers.

And it was one they took, with Ronaldo scoring career goal 968 in his quest to reach 1,000.

Ronaldo broke the deadlock in the 15th minute, strolling onto Nawaf Boushal’s lay-off and firing home with an unstoppable low effort.

His Portuguese compatriot Joao Felix made it 2-0 two minutes into the second half, hitting home on the rebound after Kingsley Coman had headed against the post.

Al Nassr were unable to add to their lead despite continuing to dominate matters.

But there was never any danger of Al Okhdood threatening a comeback, with Al Nassr cruising to a club-record 14th successive Saudi Pro League win.
