Resurrection Finally Finds The Last Missing Piece To Prove The OG Dexter Morgan Is Officially Back

Dexter: Resurrection season 1, episode 4, has finally found the crucial missing piece to prove that OG Dexter is back in full form. After an impressive start to the third Dexter spinoff series, Resurrection has received rave reviews and is already considered by fans and critics alike to be one of the greatest Dexter seasons ever made.

During episode 4 of Resurrection, aptly titled “Call Me Red,” Dexter impersonates a serial killer who has developed a reputation as The Dark Passenger across NYC media outlets. This grants him access to Leon Prater’s secret serial killer club, which includes a tour of rare mass murderer collectibles, including Dexter’s signature blood slides from the original series.

Dexter’s trophies, however, are said to have been a gift from an FBI agent with a gambling problem and are believed to be attributed to the Bay Harbor Butcher, Sgt. James Doakes. Dexter finally adopts the Bay Harbor Butcher name in Resurrection episode 4 and has a long-awaited reunion with his beloved blood slides.

Dexter: Resurrection has been the most Dexter-esque spinoff series out of the three currently developed. While New Blood felt like the biggest deviation from the tone of the original series, and Original Sin banked on early-season nostalgia, Dexter feels like the first true continuation of Dexter since season 8 was released in 2013.

With Dexter reuniting with blood slides in Resurrection, it truly feels like we have the original Dexter Morgan back now. He’s also back to using blood slide trophies again, as shown when he kills Neil Patrick Harris’s Lowell, aka The Tattoo Collector.

Additionally, when he talks to Harry in his imagination, he’s back to his old ways, using funny one-liners. This all combines in Resurrection to have Dexter Morgan feel much more true to the OG Dexter than he did in New Blood.

Dexter may not be able to resist the “urge” of parting with his beloved blood slides after parting with them for so long. All signs after Resurrection episode 4 indicate that he will continue to operate under the alias of Ronald “Red” Schmidt, at least for the time being.

Dexter Morgan has one of his worst nightmares come to life in Dexter: Resurrection episode 4, which could ultimately lead to his downfall in NYC.

It should be noted that Prater demonstrated to Dexter how to unlock the vault where his blood slides lie. Even one failed attempt to enter the right code for entry will result in Uma Thurman’s Charley coming out guns blazing. If Dexter were to get his slides back in Dexter: Resurrection, he would not only need to get through Prater but also the formidable Charley as well.
