It may not have received the same amount of attention as Grand Theft Auto Online, but with regular updates, free cosmetics, and limited-time events, Red Dead Online continues to welcome fans to the desert plains of the hit Rockstar title. First released back in 2018 alongside Red Dead Redemption 2, Red Dead Online allows players to create their very own cowboy and embark on quests across the familiar map, meeting some familiar NPCs and most importantly, being the best-dressed on the frontier.
Well, this month is no exception as Rockstar is hosting its ‘The Naturalist’ event in Red Dead Online, allowing players to conserve frontier wildlife in their role as a naturalist. As a result, they will be able to rack up the cash and XP by earning “4X RDO$ and XP for Completing Naturalist Free Roam Events, 3X Rewards on Sample Sales, 4X Rewards on Races, and more.”
Harriet Davenport needs all the help she can get sampling and classifying the rare wild animals of the five states. Meanwhile, Gus Macmillan wants those animals’ heads (and hides) on his wall.
Running across May, there are various events to take part in and limited-time rewards to earn, some of which are only available for the next 48 hours. However, by playing Red Dead Online anytime between now and 1 June will see you bag yourself the black Rushword Shirt. Additionally, taking part in the Wildlife Photographer or Wild Animal Kills Challenge Free Roam Awards will see you earn 4X RDO$ and XP also until 1 June, whilst completing a round of Wildlife Photographer will also reward the blue Guerra Poncho.
If, like me, you are most interested in limited-time cosmetics, then the Naturalist event will see plenty up for grabs. Hunting or sampling a Legendary Animal this month will see you earn the Clairborn Coat, and if you have always wanted to express your inner chicken, completing an Animal Sighting Mission could see you earn the Chicken Emote. When you will need it, I do not know, but it is there nonetheless!
This month will also celebrate the return of limited-time clothing, with one piece available for each week throughout May. The first week could see you earn two gold bars by taking part in the ongoing Featured Series events, where from 12-18 May you could earn yourself an offer for 50% off an Established or Distinguished Naturalist Role Item by completing three daily challenges. From 19 May through to the 25th, winning a Featured Series event will bag you a free emote, and finally, from 26 May to 1 June, selling three Samples will see you receive the black Morning Tail Coat.
All of these useful and stylish limited-time items will be available to earn throughout May for those who log in to Red Dead Online and take part in the ongoing events and challenges, so make sure you grab them before they are gone!
