PSG all but clinch title while Milan slip up in Serie A

Paris Saint-Germain all but clinched the Ligue 1 title as they maintained their six-point lead at the top with a 1-0 win over Brest.

Desire Doue scored on his 100th appearance for the club to give Luis Enrique’s side a crucial win with two league fixtures left to play.

Lyon’s hopes of a top-three finish were dented as they were beaten 2-1 by 10-man Toulouse to fall below Lille, who won 1-0 at Monaco.

Meanwhile, Marseille ended their dismal recent run with a 1-0 victory over Le Harve, while Rennes gave themselves a shot at a surprise third-placed finish as a 2-1 win over Paris FC saw them move to within two points of Lille.

In Italy, Milan were beaten 3-2 by Atalanta which opened the door Roma and Como – who both won – to make ground on the Rossoneri. Just three points now separate Juventus, Milan, Roma and Como in the table, with the hunt for Champions League football next season set to go down to the wire.

Elsewhere, Jamie Vardy was among the goals as Cremonese beat bottom side Pisa. The 39-year-old scored the first of his side’s three goals as the hosts ran out comfortable winners to keep their survival ambitions alive.

Following Barcelona’s league triumph against rivals Real Madrid in El Clasico, elsewhere, Athletic Club’s hopes of securing a European spot next season were dealt a blow after they feel to a 1-0 defeat to Valencia.

Umar Sadiq struck with just over a quarter of an hour remaining but there was further misery for the hosts as Nico Williams hobbled off the pitch looking in some distress.

Questions will now begin to be asked over the influential winger’s availability for this summer’s World Cup, which kicks off in a few weeks time.

Third-placed Villarreal were held 1-1 at Mallorca, while already-relegated Real Oviedo played out a goalless stalemate with visitors Getafe, despite the hosts going a player down.

In the Bundesliga, Freiburg, who reached the final of the Europa League in midweek, failed to help tighten their grip on seventh spot as they were beaten by Hamburg 3-2.

In the two other games on Sunday, Heidenheim beat Koln 3-1 and Union Berlin overcame Mainz by the same scoreline.
