Faced with the imminent financial ruin of her family, Persephone marries the infamously unfriendly, badly scarred Duke of Kielder, anticipating a fairly grim future for herself but glad to have saved her family’s fortunes.

When Persephone arrives at the Duke’s remote home, she soon learns his cold and uncaring attitude is as unforgiving as the wintry wasteland where she now lives. However, in an unconventional spin on the Beauty And The Beast myth, Persephone gradually finds herself warming to the Duke, and the Duke is even more surprised to see his own uncertainty give way to unlikely passion. Compared to the R-rated antics of Bridgerton, this Regency romance is fairly reserved, but that’s part of the show’s charm.
