Two former Real Madrid managers went head to head on Monday as Fulham hosted West London rivals Chelsea.

Alvaro Arbeloa and Xabi Alonso occupied the hotseat at the Santiago Bernabeu before Jose Mourinho’s return but their personal friendship was on the back burner with both teams eager to gain local bragging rights.

Chelsea had been active in the transfer market, bringing in the likes of Morgan Rogers, Marco Palestra, Jordan Henderson and Maxence Lacroix.

Fulham had been quieter but made the eye-catching additions of Gonzalo Garcia and Cesar Palacios from Madrid.
