Porto boss Francesco Farioli has urged Diogo Costa to stay with the club, insisting “Porto is his home”.
The goalkeeper will return to Porto in the coming weeks after Portugal’s last-16 exit from the World Cup on Monday, going out against Spain.
Since Costa became Porto’s first-choice goalkeeper in 2021-22, he has kept the most clean sheets in the Primeira Liga (78), made the joint-fourth most saves (287) and saved the joint-third most penalties (five).
The 26-year-old has won three league titles with Porto, most recently in 2025-26, along with seven other domestic honours.
Costa has been linked with a move to Chelsea this summer, but Farioli hopes to see his goalkeeper stay at the club.
“As for Diogo Costa, I don’t want to attract the interest of other clubs,” said the Porto boss.
“I hope he comes back soon, that they close the airport and the roads [laughs]. FC Porto is his home. I wish him the best for his career, but I hope it’s with us.”

Porto’s competitive season starts on August 1 when they face Torreense in the Supertaca Candido de Oliveira (domestic Super Cup).
Their league campaign starts a week later against Alverca, but Farioli’s sole focus is on Torreense heading into pre-season.
Farioli added: “The Super Cup will be the final chapter of last season. After that, last season will be definitively over.
“The focus is on the Super Cup and trying to win another trophy.
“The opponents will be very motivated and FC Porto has to keep their stomachs empty, wanting to win again. What we achieved is in the past.”
