The announcement of Pokémon Winds & Waves as part of the 30th anniversary celebrations for the franchise was undoubtedly an exciting one, and it looks like it could be the evolution it so desperately needs. It’s no secret that the last couple of releases have been solid, without really advancing the formula in any major way, and a positive step forward would be very welcome indeed.
The new setting looks great, and as the first game of Generation 10, it has the added advantage of introducing a bunch of new Pokémon to the mix. That said, there is one new ‘mon in particular that fans have been demanding for a long time, and this could be the perfect opportunity to introduce it.
There’s no denying that Eevee and its subsequent evolutions are among the most popular Pokémon in the entire game, particularly in the TCG, where certain cards featuring them can fetch thousands of dollars.
Over on Reddit, fans have been discussing which Eeveelutions they would like to see in Winds & Waves, if any, and Ghost in particular keeps being raised as a positive possibility. One user shared fan art of what the Ghost-type could look like, and it does look like it could easily be one of the coolest designs we have seen to date.
Other comments weighe in on what they’d like to see, with one saying, “Jolteon and Sylveon are currently the only two Eeveelutions whose weaknesses (ground, steel, poison) are not represented by known canon Eeveelutions. I would personally like a Poison or Ghost Eeveelution, but flying feels the most logical for the themes of Gen 10.”
“Ghost-type Eeveelution!! I’ve been waiting for one for years! I have a special Eevee that I plan to evolve into a Ghost-type when the time comes!” another added.
“Poison would be incredible because it was planned since Gen 2. I’d also really like to see Ghost and Dragon,” a third said.
As much as a Ghost-type Eevee would be an incredibly exciting addition next time around, it’s not like a Poison-type or something else couldn’t work really well. If Game Freak do add one to the game, it will likely be designed to fit thematically with the new archipelago region.
As of the time of writing, we don’t have a specific release date for Pokémon Winds & Waves, beyond the very broad window of 2027. We should hear more about the specific details when next year rolls around, including any potential Eevee additions to the Pokédex.
