Pokémon Officially Unveils Mewtwo Redesign For 30th Anniversary

Since the Pokémon franchise began all the way back in 1996, fans have had plenty of time to choose their favorites. Despite there now being way over 1,000 Pokémon created throughout the three-decade run, there are some that are more recognizable than others, and Mewtwo is one such example of this.

First introduced in 1996’s Pokémon Red and Blue, Mewtwo has become a key figure in the Pokémon franchise, and their popularity shows no signs of dwindling, with some media even referring to them as “the world’s strongest Pokémon.”

Pokémon Just Gave Mewtwo A Bold New Look

Now, in recent months, Mewtwo is back, and this time, they are sporting a brand-new look that fans do not want to miss out on. This news comes courtesy of an upcoming collaboration between Pokémon and Adidas, with the latter dropping 12 Pokemon-themed sneaker designs inspired by some of our favorite characters.

Set to go live this September, the collection may have 12 designs, but only nine will be available, as the Pokémon mascot, Pikachu, will have three separate designs dedicated to them, with one even including a furry texture.

Alongside Pikachu, there are also the Charizard Superstar Vintage shoes dedicated to the beloved Fire-type, as well as Charmander and Charmelon options. Not only that, but there are also designs dedicated to Gastly, Haunter, and Gengar.

However, it is the Mewtwo design that is the subject of today’s story, as they will be available in both the ZX 8000s and original Samba sneakers from Adidas. Both featuring the pastel pinks and purples reminiscent of Mewtwo’s design, the sneakers are a lot more subtle than the other options, but no less effective, especially thanks to the little Mewtwo logo on the tongue. Of course, they also come with a little Pokémon Ball motif, too.

Pokémon X Adidas Is A Great New Collab

Whilst some designs may be a lot more… striking than others, this Adidas x Pokémon collaboration is impressive to say the least. Offering designs for many of our favorite characters, it is a selection that many of us will not want to miss out on.

As mentioned, the brand-new collaboration will go live this September, with all 12 designs going live on the Adidas online store and select sites. Unfortunately, the prices of this new footwear have not been revealed, but with Adidas shoes already costing around $90, we can expect them to hit the $100 mark. However, this is merely speculation and should be taken with a pinch of salt.
