PlayStation gamers may want to brace themselves for a major upset, as Sony Interactive Studios just announced a controversial plan to end physical disc production starting in January 2028 (via Gematsu).

Sony states that “This is a natural direction for Sony Interactive Entertainment to adapt to consumer trends as the general preference for digital media significantly outpaces physical discs.”
