Now, the legendary captain is officially returning once again in a gorgeous 60th anniversary trailer, giving fans another reason to celebrate one of Star Trek‘s most iconic characters.

Picard Makes Epic Return Ahead Of Major New 2026 Release

Star Trek: Picard may have ended its television run in 2023, but Patrick Stewart is officially stepping back into Jean-Luc Picard’s world for Magic: The Gathering x Star Trek. A gorgeous promotional trailer released by Wizards of the Coast puts Stewart at the center of the crossover, tying one of Star Trek’s most recognizable actors directly into the franchise’s ongoing 60th anniversary celebration, with cards based on the show itself as well.

The biggest reveal is Stewart’s involvement with the set’s ultra-rare Headliner Signed cards. Picard is one of seven characters receiving special textless foil variants physically signed by actors who portrayed them, with Wizards confirming that these are genuine pen-to-card autographs rather than reproduced signatures. Only around 250 copies of each Headliner Signed card exist, and they can be found exclusively in Collector Boosters, making Stewart’s Captain Jean-Luc Picard card one of the set’s most limited collectibles.

Picard is joined in the signed lineup by Kirk, Spock, Janeway, Seven of Nine, Geordi La Forge, and Data, giving The Next Generation particularly strong representation among the seven cards.

The larger Magic: The Gathering x Star Trek release celebrates the franchise’s entire 60-year history with characters, ships, adversaries, and settings spanning multiple generations of Star Trek. Alongside its standard cards, the collection includes Play Boosters, Commander decks, bundles, Draft Night products, and premium Collector Boosters. For Picard fans, however, Stewart personally signing Jean-Luc’s card makes this crossover feel like considerably more than another piece of anniversary merchandise.

Star Trek Arrives To Universes Beyond November 13

Magic: The Gathering x Star Trek officially launches worldwide on November 13, 2026, although players can get their first hands-on experience during Pre-release events running November 6–12, followed by its MTG Arena debut on November 10. Preorders are already live, with Wizards directing fans toward local game stores, TCGplayer, Amazon, and other retailers, including Best Buy and GameStop.

There is no shortage of ways to collect the crossover, as the lineup includes standard Play Boosters, premium Collector Boosters, four Commander decks and corresponding Collector’s Editions, a traditional Bundle, the Beam Me Up Bundle, Beginner Box, four-player Draft Night set, and Scene Boxes. Official MSRPs range from $6.99 for an individual Play Booster to $159.99 for a Collector’s Edition Commander deck, while Collector Boosters carry a $37.99 MSRP.

Some of the biggest attractions go well beyond the Patrick Stewart-signed Picard discussed above. The 30-card Stardates collection reimagines established Magic cards through Star Trek, including Sheoldred, the Apocalypse represented by Kelvin-timeline Khan. Fans can also hunt LCARS-framed cards and all ten shock lands, while already revealed cards include the U.S.S. Enterprise-D, Galaxy-Class, Borg Queen, Perfection Manifest, Captain Kathryn Janeway, Seven of Nine, Dr. Beverly Crusher, and numerous other characters spanning the franchise’s 60-year history. Special Scene cards and retro-styled Classic Enterprise treatments provide even more collector-focused variants.

With six decades of characters, ships, villains, and iconic moments to draw from, Star Trek could easily become one of Universes Beyond’s most expansive celebrations yet.
