Peacemaker season 2, episode one sees Chris Smith face rejection after rejection, first denied a spot in the Justice Gang and then turned down by his romantic interest, Emilia Harcourt. Adding to his no good, terrible day, Chris discovers a door to an alternate universe where his doppelgänger’s life is infinitely better.

To cope with his self-pity spiral, he throws a rager, and during the illicit chaos, the series confirms Chris Smith as a bisexual icon, a revelation also recently confirmed in comics, making it canon.

Those who’ve followed Gunn’s Peacemaker from the start will remember that season one, episode two, suggested that Chris was bisexual. The moment came when he and Vigilante were implied to have joined a rescued female hostage in a threesome. Still, not all threesomes define sexuality, as it was left unclear whether Chris and Adrian actually enjoyed each other as much as the woman.

Any uncertainty about Chris’s sexuality was put to rest in the R-rated season two premiere. During a wild nude rager at his house, Chris is shown heatedly making out with both a man and a woman among dozens of partygoers. This scene made it crystal clear that Peacemaker is officially a bisexual icon within James Gunn’s DCU.

DC further cemented Chris’s bisexuality in Peacemaker Presents: The Vigilante / Eagly Double Feature #5 by Rex Ogle, Tim Seeley, Matteo Lolli, Mitch Gerads, and John Kalisz. The comic’s final pages show Chris in bed between a nude man and woman, an unmistakable image confirming that Peacemaker’s bisexuality is now fully canon in both comics and the DCU.
