Oracle Of Ages & Seasons 25th Anniversary Remake Unites Gamers

This year celebrates the 40th anniversary of The Legend of Zelda franchise, but it also celebrates the 25th anniversary of a fan-favorite: The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons and Oracle of Ages. It may not receive the same amount of attention as other entries such as Ocarina of Time or Wind Waker, but it is no less appreciated by fans after launching back in 2001 for the Game Boy Color.

Marking the seventh and eighth installments in the beloved Zelda franchise, Oracle of Seasons and Oracle of Ages were born after plans for three interconnected Zelda games were put forward. However, when one was scrapped, it resulted in just two, but both were met with critical success and acclaim.

In Oracles of Seasons, the Triforce sees Link travel to the land of Holodrum, where he witnesses Onox kidnap Din, the Oracle of Seasons. In Oracle of Ages, Link is instead transported to Labyrnna, where Veran possesses Nayru. With the main plot being revealed once the player completes both games, it is a unique way to experience the Zelda franchise, so it is perhaps no wonder that, earlier this year, fans were celebrating the 25th anniversary of The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons and Oracle of Ages launch.

Now, to celebrate the impressive milestone, one creator has released a showcase of a fan-game inspired by The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons and Oracle of Ages. Created by AlexAugerDev-Z on YouTube, the showcase is “an “Oracles” themed showcase for my GBC-themed fan-game” and viewers can now check out the project in all its work-in-progress glory.

However, the creator also makes clear that this is not a PC port or a remake of The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons and Oracle of Ages. It is simply a fan-game inspired by both titles, and was created in GameMaker with the PC in mind. Although the project is not yet available to download and try out, it has not stopped fans from being impressed with its progress.

“This looks fantastic, the mechanical adjustments and additions feel so seamless,” one comment read, whilst another added,

“Damn, every time I see these games, it makes me wish they would do the third game if they remake these two.”

The love for The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons and Oracle of Ages continued over on r/zelda when one user shared love for the beloved games on their 25th anniversary. As you can imagine, the comments were soon filled with fellow fans taking the time to celebrate.

“Best game(s) in the series in my opinion!” The top comment read. “Most underrated games in the series,” another shared.

With Nintendo already planning to release the upcoming The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake in the new year, let us hope that remakes for The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons and Oracle of Ages will follow suit in the future.
