NZ-W vs SL-W [WATCH]: Emma McLeod takes a breathtaking catch to dismiss Achini Kulasuriya in the 2nd ODI

The 2nd ODI between New Zealand and Sri Lanka did not end well for the visitors as they were outperformed and dominated by the Black Caps. The match ended in a comfortable and commanding win for New Zealand by 78 runs. The highlight of the contest between the two nations was a breathtaking catch taken by Emma McLeod to dismiss Achini Kulasuriya in the 2nd ODI encounter of Sri Lanka’s tour to New Zealand.

Emma McLeod’s remarkable fielding aesthetics against Sri Lanka

McLeod’s breathtaking catch was taken during Sri Lanka’s run chase during the 2nd ODI of the 3-match series as the home side won the toss and elected to bat first and put together a total of 245/7 in their 50 overs.

The incident occurred during the 41st over of the innings as Sri Lanka were very much out of the game due to their lethargic batting display by seasoned batters up the order. Tailenders Kulasuriya and Sugandhika Kumari were on the crease in front of Hannah Rowe who had rattled the Sri Lankan batting order up until that moment.

An incoming good-length ball was flicked away with the intention of placing in on the leg-side but the ball took a huge deflection off the bat and went straight towards the point area where McLeod dived while running backwards and took the catch to mark the end of Kulasuriya’s innings. She could only last for 3 deliveries and scored just 1 run during her time on the pitch.
