Zinchenko moves to Forest on loan

Nottingham Forest have reached a late agreement to sign Arsenal defender Oleksandr Zinchenko on loan on deadline day, according to David Ornstein.

The Ukraine international was touted to stay with the Gunners beyond the British transfer deadline, but there has been a surprise late twist.

Forest had a verbal agreement to land Atletico Madrid left-back Javi Galan, but the deal reportedly collapsed at the final hurdle for some reason.

The club immediately reacted with an approach for Zinchenko. As part of the loan, Forest are expected to cover his entire £150,000 per week salary.

A deal sheet was also submitted on time. The former Manchester City man will undergo his medical before joining Forest for the campaign.

Zinchenko may have played his final game for the Gunners, considering his contract expires in June next year. Arsenal have no plans to renew.

Arsenal would have ideally preferred a permanent exit, but they now stand to save his £7.2 million annual wages during the ongoing season.
