Norway cruise past Sweden in World Cup warm-up

Norway eased to a 3-1 victory over neighbours Sweden in their lone home warm-up game before heading to their first World Cup finals since 1998.

Alexander Isak was on target for Sweden, but the Liverpool striker’s goal was a mere consolation after Norway had raced into a 3-0 lead.

Jorgen Strand Larsen headed Norway in front eight minutes into the contest at Oslo’s Ulleval Stadion, and the hosts’ lead was doubled by superb Antonio Nusa finish 11 minutes later.

Strand Larsen, excelling up front as Erling Haaland was rested, nodded home his second from a corner eight minutes before half-time.

Isak at least provided one positive for Sweden in their final game before heading to North America, his goal a spectacular curling effort at the end of a fine individual run 14 minutes from the end of normal time.

Sebastian Nanasi looked to have pulled another goal back for the visitors, but his effort was ruled out for offside after a VAR check.

Austria edged another meeting of two World Cup sides as they beat Tunisia 1-0 despite playing most of the game with 10 men.

Konrad Laimer was dismissed eight minutes before half-time for a deliberate handball following a VAR review.

But Marcel Sabitzer clinched victory for Austria with a first-time finish from Stefan Posch’s low cross in from the right.

Elsewhere, Turkey warmed up for the World Cup in style as they thrashed North Macedonia 4-0.
