The most notable inclusion in the squad is Kyle Jamieson, who returns to the T20I setup after recovering from a side injury that kept him out of the ODI series against England. Jamieson’s comeback is a significant boost for New Zealand’s pace attack, given his ability to extract bounce and movement on New Zealand pitches.
However, Matt Henry has been rested for the series. According to NZC, the move is part of a “pre-planned conditioning block” designed to manage his workload and ensure his fitness for the upcoming ODI and Test series against West Indies. Henry, who recently battled a calf injury, remains a vital component of New Zealand’s red-ball and 50-over squads.
Ish Sodhi and Michael Bracewell strengthen spin options
The squad also sees the return of Ish Sodhi, who brings crucial experience and spin variety to the lineup. Sodhi’s inclusion bolsters New Zealand’s spin department alongside Mitchell Santner, who will continue to lead the team after Kane Williamson’s retirement. Michael Bracewell, the versatile all-rounder, also features in the squad after recovering from a long injury layoff, adding depth to both batting and bowling units.
New Zealand’s 15-member squad combines experienced campaigners and emerging talents, striking a balance between consistency and experimentation.
