Netflix’s Gritty New 8-Part Crime Series Is Taking Over Streaming Worldwide

Netflix fires another shot at global success.

Netflix has had quite a few successful releases in 2026 so far, with a couple of new Netflix Original series becoming quite popular on the streaming service. One of them is His & Hers, which has broken into Netflix’s 10 Most Popular Shows of all time list. Now, another recent crime thriller series is finding global success on Netflix.

Netflix’s 18 Best Thriller Shows, Ranked

From Mindhunter to Adolescence to Baby Reindeer, the Netflix library is full of great original thriller shows just waiting to be binge-watched.

At the time of writing, Bandi stands as the 2nd most-watched TV show on Netflix worldwide. The crime thriller series reached that mark quickly, as the show debuted on Netflix on April 9. Bandi leaves behind other thriller series on Netflix’s global charts, including Detective Hole, Bloodhounds, The Cleaning Lady, and more. The only show above it is Trust Me: The False Prophet.

Bandi is currently trending on Netflix in 57 countries, which is a significant mark. The new Netflix crime thriller series ranks as high as the most-watched show on the streaming service in 27 of them. Some of those countries include Brazil, France, Martinique, Mexico, Saudi Arabia, and many more. While it does not rank as high, Bandi has also become a streaming success nationwide.

The 8-episode Netflix crime thriller series is currently the 8th most-watched TV show on the streaming service in the United States. Bandi leaves behind Love on the Spectrum and Sitting Bull in the US charts. The thriller series is beaten by shows of different genres, such as WWE’s Raw, American Godfathers: The Five Families, Big Mistakes, and Temptation Island.

Like in the global streaming chart, Netflix’s most-watched TV show in the United States is also Trust Me: The False Prophet. At the time of writing, Bandi only has one review logged on Rotten Tomatoes, which is a positive review from Joel Keller for Decider. In the review, the critic says, “Kylan is one of the lowest-key crime bosses we’ve seen on TV.”

On IMDB, Bandi currently stands at a measly 5.9 score based on 199 reviews. That clashes with the Netflix crime thriller series’ global smash hit streaming status. That said, the show’s worst-rated episode, the premiere, stands at a decent 7.3. All other episodes of the Netflix series range from 8.7 to 8.9, indicating that Bandi‘s overall score should rise soon.

Bandi follows a family of 11 orphaned brothers and sisters, who, after the death of their mother, try to find the means to survive and stay together. That leads to some of them becoming involved in criminal activities, like drug trafficking, which brings along tension. Bandi should continue to stand high on Netflix’s global charts for weeks to come.
