Netflix renews Dept. Q for season 2, and the show is returning to a familiar location. Season 1 of the British crime thriller, which was adapted from Jussi Adler-Olsen’s books, was well-received, with an 88% Tomatometer score and 90% Popcornmeter score on Rotten Tomatoes.
Dept. Q season 1’s ending saw DCI Carl Morck (Goode) and his team solving the Merritt Lingard (Chloe Pirrie) case. However, there are still many cold cases left for them to solve, and the source material provides hints of what those next cases could be.
Now, Netflix has announced that Dept. Q season 2 is officially renewed. The story will be set in Edinburgh, Scotland, and the series will film there, which was also the case for season 1. Goode returns as Morck, along with Alexej Manvelov as Akram, Leah Byrne as Rose and Jamie Sives as Hardy. Check out Goode’s statement about the renewal below:
I’d like to thank Netflix for giving us the opportunity to further investigate Department Q’s storylines. We have a wonderful cast and crew, headed by our resident genius Scott Frank. I cannot wait to read what comes from his magic quill!”
