Just when we thought we had seen the last of Stranger Things, Netflix calls us back for more. It’s been just under six months since the sci-fi series came to a close with its fifth season, and though the conclusion was highly divisive, there’s no doubt that the show was an absolute phenomenon. Stranger Things will remain Netflix’s flagship for many years to come, and the expansion into the animated series, Stranger Things: Tales from ’85, makes it clear that the streaming platform has no intention of letting the story die.
On that same note, Netflix has announced a special, unprecedented release of new content. Following a partnership with Arrow Video, Netflix is set to release Stranger Things: The Complete Series on Blu-ray and 4K UHD on July 28, 2026, in the US and Canada, and July 27, 2026, in the UK—just one month from now. This means all five seasons and 42 episodes will be available as physical media for the very first time.
Stranger Things: The Complete Series will contain a whopping 25 discs. These will be loaded with not just episodes from the hit sci-fi series, but also plenty of exclusive content. You can expect set tours, bloopers, interviews, deleted scenes, and general behind-the-scenes featurettes to provide a brand new look at the phenomenon of Stranger Things. This is something Netflix has never done before, so it’s obviously a pretty big deal.
Stranger Things’ Return Breaks A Netflix Tradition
Netflix has been all about streaming for years now. Though the company started as a DVD rental service, its shift into original movies and TV shows marked an absolute revolution in how media is consumed. While Netflix movies sometimes have limited theatrical runs, the platform has refrained from releasing any titles on disc. This has ensured that viewers must pay for subscriptions to watch or rewatch the platform’s best projects. It’s been a successful business model for Netflix, but it seems that Stranger Things warrants an exception.
Of course, this break in tradition isn’t for nothing. Stranger Things: The Complete Series isn’t just a traditional disc set but an exclusive collector’s item in its own right. Those who purchase one of the two central options, Deluxe or Special (both available in 4K UHD and Blu-ray), will likely no longer contribute to Stranger Things‘ streaming hours, but Netflix will more than make up for that loss, given the price of these unique packages. Depending on what option consumers select, they will pay anywhere between $199 and $269.
Stranger Things: The Complete Series Purchase Options & Prices | |
|---|---|
Collection Version | Price (USD) |
Special Blu-ray | $199.99 |
Special 4K UHD | $219.99 |
Deluxe Blu-ray | $249.99 |
Deluxe 4K UHD | $269.99 |
If things go well for Netflix’s Stranger Things: The Complete Series, we could potentially see the platform continue with these models for special occasions. The approach wouldn’t work for just any title, and we likely can’t expect Netflix original movies to get Blu-ray releases. However, when shows like Wednesday or Bridgerton come to a close, they could also receive physical media releases. This opens the doors for passionate Netflix viewers to collect the company’s exclusive sets across the board.
The Additional Perks Of Stranger Things: The Complete Series Explained
The price points for Stranger Things: The Complete Series, especially the Deluxe editions, won’t feel worth it for everyone. However, this product comes with much more than just the discs containing the 42 episodes and previously mentioned BTS content. The Deluxe packaging features brand new wraparound box art from acclaimed Stranger Things illustrator and visual artist Juan Ramos. Purchasers will also receive additional exclusive collector’s items, including a Palace Arcade alloy-zinc token, a Hellfire Club patch and a D20 die, five double-sided posters with artwork from Kyle Lambert, twenty-five art cards, and a fold-out map of Hawkins.
Another item included with the Deluxe edition of Stranger Things: The Complete Series is a 148-page book featuring original design sketches, storyboards, concept art, and exclusive writings from the Duffer Brothers, director Shawn Levy, and several of the artists involved with the series over the last decade. So, while this collection is on the pricy side, enthusiastic collectors should be entirely satisfied with the project, especially since this is likely to be the last of new content from the original Stranger Things series for years to come.
